July 2012, we had a flagpole, 28 excited students and held the first classes in the family rooms of Destiny House #1 and Destiny House #2 with 3 brand new graduate teachers.
Ten years later, we celebrated by opening our Senior High School. We now offer education from kindergarten to year 12, having over 750 students and 45 staff. One of those original 3 teachers is now our Head Teacher.
While many rural teachers have only finished high school, all of our teaching and administration staff have received qualifications at international level Universities.
Hope Schools greatly benefit from the partnership of Bethany Christian School who from the start have provided regular professional development both onsite and online in the areas of, pedagogical approaches, social and emotional learning, restorative practices, differentiation, student agency, leadership and collaboration.
While offering high standards of Christian education, Hope School is not an elite school. We strive to make great schooling for all accessible.
The average family in our region earns AU$8/day, making private education out of reach. At hope school, low-income earners can apply for subsidised fees. We rely on sponsorship from individuals, organisations, churches, and schools to do this - breaking the poverty cycle one classroom at a time.
