Ricardo
Ricardo comes from Kupang. His mother went to live in Jakarta after Ricardo’s Dad left the family. She tried to find work and ways to support him but it was difficult for her to work and care for him as well. Her lack of city knowledge and education meant the only work she could get was occasionally taking in laundry that she washed in a small bucket in her rented room. She had no extended family to help and couldn’t return to her village. She placed him in an institution where he was not well cared for. Ricardo's mother heard about Hope Village and a meeting was arranged between herself & our Operations Manager. As a result of that meeting, Ricardo was placed with us in August 2016. He was undernourished and even though he was eight he had not been able to attend school at all.
His transition into the House of Hope family went very smoothly. He started school immediately and has settled into life and enjoys his many brothers & sisters.
Ricardo is a shy but affectionate child who has a whole new life ahead of him. We are encouraging his natural mother to stay in contact with him too.
